Christmas Swirl Sugar Cookies

I like to bake, well….let’s be honest, mostly I like to eat things that other people bake! It isn’t so much the baking as much as it is the cleaning up afterwards. You know what I mean? I don’t like dishes very much, but I suppose sometimes it is worth doing the dishes … – Check it out at http://www.32turns.com/christmas-swirl-sugar-cookies-2/

The girls loved cutting out shapes and placing them on the cookie sheet.

I find it helpful to roll out the dough onto parchment paper, it sticks less and NO messy countertops!

They were adorably serious as they went to work with frosting and sprinkles.

They even wrote their names with frosting.

I love this sugar recipe cookie, I got it from my mother and it is yummy.

Ingredients:

1 lb. butter

4 eggs

2 1/2 cups sugar

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking powder

7 cups flour

Blend butter, eggs and sugar together. Then blend in all other ingredients.

Bake 375 for 8 to 10 minutes.

Let cool, then frost.

(tip: this dough works best when made at least a couple hours in advance and stored in fridge until ready to use)

I have been trying frosting recipes for the last year trying to find one that dries hard and still tastes good…..and…..I FOUND ONE! It is more of a glaze than a frosting, but it worked really well. My daughter even dropped her cookie face down on my Aunt’s carpet (gasp, I thought we were in big trouble) but the frosting didn’t even smear. Oh my goodness, AWESOME!!

Ingredients:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tb milk

1 tb light corn syrup

stir together sugar and milk, then add corn syrup.

(tip: stir before each use, this keeps the color shiny not mottled)

Love me some cookies!!!
